Known issues in this release

Limitations

The following functions are disabled in this release:
  • Preferences
  • Check-in/check-out of assets and reels
  • Master/sub-scene selection
  • Manual creation of sequence events
  • Recovering items from trash
In addition, the following limitations apply:
  • Mac OS 10.5 and 10.6 only are supported.

Changes in this release

Noteworthy changes

It is now possible to export clip data to bins in Final Cut Pro, or as EDLs. It is also possible to export the current screenplay (including all current edits) to a text file. Lengthy operations will now display a progress bar.

New features

  • You can now mark takes as mis-slated
  • You can now display a list of notes from any breakdown screen
  • You can now display a list of attachments from any breakdown screen
  • Clicking an item in a list window opens the breakdown for that item
  • Metadata can be read from an R3D file without requiring a separate install of redline
  • Added some new editing formats
  • Copies of attachments can be saved from the attachment's window
  • Screenplays can be exported to text files
  • Clips can be exported as FCP XML or as EDLs
  • Lengthy operations will now display a progress bar

Fixes

  • QuickTime metadata will import without generating a "qt_info not found" error
  • Fixed an issue that would cause Synaesthesia to quit with an error "object not found" on OS 10.5.8
  • Fixed an issue with drop-frame timecode calculation
  • The breakdown tab will no longer reset when clicking "backup now"

Other changes

  • Changed the line length of screenplays to be in line with formatting used by Final Draft 8
  • You cannot select invalid file types when importing sequences and screenplays

Upgrading from a previous release

A new application, "Migrate Data" will be installed to the Synaesthesia folder. This application will upgrade the data structures to support the latest version of the software. It will run automatically during installation of the new version, or you can run it later.
